Bernie Sanders 2016

Probably a good place to put this

Les Leopold discusses how "financialism" has replaced capitalism. The rip off is as gargantuan as it is systemic, and the private sector is largely being fucked over too.

The use of the term socialist by Sanders during the 2016 election is so strange, he he has just compared his own 'socialism' to that of Eisenhower

Sanders: I’m ‘not that much of a socialist’ compared to Eisenhower

He is doing so on the basis of the idea that a top rate of taxation of 90% is 'socialist' unless there I somehow missed a key point in US history where Eisenhower seized the means of production.

His other explanation of what socialism seems to be beyond a very justified anger at wealth inequality it is just a general idea of 'that thing they have in Europe, or more specifically Denmark or Sweden or Norway whatever'

The problem of course is that Denmark isn't a socialist country, as its right-wing Prime Minister says it is a mixed market economy led by a right-wing party heading in the same neoliberal direction as the rest of Europe.

So what is going on? It seems to me like the funny thing is that the fearmongering in the US media around socialism and the idea of what 'socialism' is 'over there in Europe', might actually be creating significant public support for a model that does not actually exist.

I don't think significant public support is being created in America for "European style socialism." I like Bernie, but I don't want him to get the Dem nomination for the reasons discussed in the Dem debate clip above. I can see the Repub ads now.....scary music with scary pictures of Lenin, Stalin & the Berlin wall.

The choice is between Hillary & which ever nut case the Repubs nominate. Hillary is bought & paid for by big finance, but another Repub in the WH is just too scary to contemplate.

The data says that this is wrong and that Sanders polls better against all the Republican nominees than Clinton

Anyway, one lone Socialist in the White House would be a mere prisoner of the system.

What would be really good is if the Sandersnistas could start a ball rolling that would lead to the election of socialists throughout the whole system - especially at state level, where the GOP are at their most pugnacious, and the Democrats at their most useless.

It's really interesting my cousin and my aunt who are both real estate agents and women and well off moderates and I would have thought natural Hilary supporters in a swing state are posting very positive things about Barny Saunders on Facebook at the moment, I wonder if there will be a similar Corbyn affect over there?

Bit late for Warren and Brazile to come out with this stuff, interesting and telling that they feel that they have to do so.
