Nobody should have been surprised by anything in episode 1 which concentrated on the late 60s/ early 70s. I'm sure nobody will be surprised by the next two either but it will be interesting to see what recent stuff they cover, if anything.

Maybe nobody on this forum. But those who remember the 60s/70s will know that in those days the police were generally regarded as completely honest, upright and beyond any sort of reproach.

Indeed. Many didn't realise that Dixon of Dock Green was a lying cunt, and a solitary copper's word was taken as pretty much gospel by the courts back then... unless you had pretty solid and incontrovertible evidence to show otherwise.

There was a lot of fuss about showing bent coppers when Law and Order (no, not those ones) was broadcast in 1978.
