What's urban's verdict on Benny Hill?

Was he a thigh-slapping comedy genius or a leering leech?

Fact! He died alone and wasn't found for some time.
Fact! Charlie Chaplin and Michael Jackson were big fans of Hill's work

even before i realised what a lot of sexist bollocks it was, i never found it funny. All this guff about him being technically brilliant yadda yadda yadda - nonsense. Makes Dick Emery look like Lenny Bruce.

Didnt make me laugh, but then he did that kind of comedy you either love or loathe.

He was immensely popular internationally, like a lot of comedians a sad, lonely character irl.
