BBC Olympic coverage

Corax

Luke 5:16
Fair play to the state propaganda merchant, they've done an amazing job with this.

Every event covered live, every event available live on the web, every event available to watch on the web later, and even rewinding live events on the site.

It's a triumph tbh.

i have to agree with you on this, its probably why ive been more into the olympics this time than ever before

yeah, fair play to the machine, they've covered it well. (not that I've watched anything, but when flicking through there's always an event on, and then the 24 or so extra channels)

The scale of what they've done has been pretty good but the actual execution has been poor, IMO. The camera angles during a lot of the athletics hasn't seemed right to me. And they seem to show the same things over and over again. They also focus far too heavily on 'Team GB'. I haven't seen any handball at all. I know its on somewhere but I've watched a LOT of Olympics and this has never showed up on any of the channels I have.

And of course, we have the presenters. What a crock of shit. Inverdale has to be the biggest cunt on TV. Michael Johnson must be desparately holding himself back from smacking him in the mouth. Then you've got Gabby Roslin, that twat who is trackside and that posh dickhead Clare Balding. What a bunch of fucksticks. Gary Lineker is the best presenter they have which tells you everything you need to know about the standard on show.

Isn't at least some of the coverage provide by the OBN rather than the BBC?

John Inverdale is a prick but I think Claire Balding has done a really good job.

The camera angles etc aren't anything to do with them. The IOC supply the pictures, the BBC broadcast them. Learnt this off a recent thread on here I think.

Focusing on Team GB probably has something to do with one of the Bs in BBC I'd guess.

All the handball's been broadcast live, as has every other event. 'Red button' or web. You can go and watch it all now if you wanted to.

Not on freeview you cant. Yes, I coudl watch iPlayer, but I want to veg on my sofa watching it in HD, not sat at a PC watching a stream.
My old freeview still let me watch red button stuff?

And I think you're being a bit moononnastick too tbh.

I'm surprised John Inverdale is coming in for so much stick. His barnet is getting increasingly ludicrous as the Olympics progress but apart from that he's doing OK.

The odd duff presenter/commentator/analyst aside, I reckon the BBC is doing a great job.

Tbf sending in whoever (David Bond?) to interview Cavendish has literally worth the licence fee alone.

I'm surprised they don't do it more often. Make it into a spoof show "Wind Up Cavvy".

Mark, do you think Wiggins - he who won everything - is quicker on his Boardman creation or a Vespa?

The scale and flexibility is a definite plus. Unfortunately rather a lot of the commentary was doing my nut in - I'm looking at you Hugh Porter.

I actually quite enjoyed watching the preliminary rounds of the Handball without commentary, then felt guilty when I watched the QF between France and Spain, because the guy covering it was one of the best at his job from what I saw.

If you have a PS3, you can access the BBC Sport site from there and access all the channels on your telly

seriously though, I'm usually pretty up on things like this, but I honestly didn't know.

Anyway, I updated my Telly and still only got 3 channels. So bollocks to you.

You should be able to watch Olympics at various times on BBC1, BBC2, BBC3 (no. 7) and channels 301 and 302.

Quimmy assumed her tv did it automatically at 3.00am every day. I told her to ignore that and to retune it and she got the missing channels.

Wish I could get the HD all live internet channels you have there, can't get round it by proxies here......
