barcelona

chuck the guidebook and just go for a wander, it's a great city and you're never that far from something cool - just follow your nose! :)

There are these really good laminated maps, handy for folding up against the natural fold, and for those sudden downpours..!

(can't remember who produces them, but could dig one out)

We always buy DK books, think they're really good.

Yeah, timeout are usually pretty good - check Amazon or Ebay for a cheap copy!

When we were in Barcelona we found that the free maps you get over there for the underground system were pretty good for listing all the places of interest and the nearest tube station to it etc.

We also done the City Bus Tour thingy, which was ok - again you get a map and can bus hop all day long.

Depends which way you wanna approach it I guess.

Have fun. It's an amazing city!

Its a great place. I'd recommend a little bar on Placa de George Orwell, can't remember what its called though. There's also a great nouvelle cusine type tapas place, called Origens (I think), can't remember exactly where, but its in Eixample district. Have a look at my photos

Bleugh, tapas.

If I want bar snacks, I'll buy some pork scratchings...

You'd rather have pork scratchings than olives, cheese, ham, bread, fish? Whats the matter with you?

I don't like itty bitty bits of food, alright?

Jeez

The pork scratchings bit was a J.O.K.E. - but I still don't like tapas.

OK. You don't like olives, cheese, fish, bread, ham, calamari, tortilla, tomatoes. What do you eat?

P.S.
Tapas varies in different regions of Spain. In Barcelona you usually pay for it and get decent portions. In Andalucia, its usually free with a drink and you get a small portion. Its all good in my book. When I was in Andalucia recently, we hardly had to pay for any food, as a few beers or glasses of wine and the free tapas sufficed.

P.P.S.
I love Spain. :D
