apprentice 2023

isvicthere?

a.k.a. floppybollocks
Is anyone going to watch this? I used to be drawn in by the Brent-like awfulness of many of the contestants, but it seems to be hidebound by the law of diminishing returns. The trailer doesn´t bode well: who still sends postcards?

I've seen it advertised, but I probably can't be arsed. They ought to spark it up a bit somehow. Anyone got any suggestions?

Can't be arsed watching a programme about people I know I'll hate.
I suppose it's one bunch of arseholes trying in vain to impress another group of arseholes, which can be mildly entertaining. I don't know much about the guy who replaced Nick Hewer on the panel, but if he's an acolyte of Sugar and Brady he's most likely at least somewhat of a cunt.

I won't be watching.

I watched in the beginning but I think it is passe now, dull boring repetitive and tripe.

:) :(

Used to love this but it's pretty dull these days. I might watch the first few to see if there are any proper funny ones but will give up pretty quickly if there isn't.

I still like it. Just need to get rid of Sugar and whoever the other two are to freshen it up.

It's car crash telly and at least reassures you that you're not the most stupid person in the world. I'm looking forward to seeing what they've dredged up this time. A friend of a friend once applied and basically got told he was too smart for it :D (that's what he told us anyway)

It was always a vanity project to enhance Sugar's media profile. And it gave the world Katie Hopkins. Please, no more.

The whole thrusting rugged individualist 'entrepreneur' crap. It's meme fodder shit. No idea about collective endeavour and the common good, just fight to rise above the plebs to end up as the king of a dung heap. The clowns put on pedestals.

Sorry, had a drink because work was purgatory today and I like to rant

ETA: The conpelling thing about the show is, in essence, that they take themselves seriously and viewers laugh at them 😆

A Star Wars apprenticeship mash up. One day Lord Sugar finally realises he's dealing with nothing but infinite dick heads, dons his Emperor cloak and strikes them all down with lightning.

Watched the first one. Pretty par-for-the-course stuff except that 1) the "boys" won the first task (it´s usually the "girls") and, 2) Sugar didn´t sack the team leader, which usually happens in the first round, instead getting rid of the most truculent one from a very truculent bunch.

Will stick with it for the time being, but already stopped watching the follow up, "You´re fired" on BBC2, a couple of series back.

The girls have a fascinating selection of eyebrows.

I keep having impure thoughts about Karen Brady. This started last series. It's not getting any better :D

My wife has watched it religiously since it started so I end up joining in. I've decided this year I'm giving up on the last fifteen minutes though, the boardroom stuff is just too cringey and I don't actually care who gets the boot. I'll start getting ready for bed as soon as we find out which team won.

I'm expecting there'll be complaints about taking everyone to Antigua after Sugar saying what difficult financial times we're living in and wanting value for money.

The usual gruesome shit. Bunch of egotistical twats sucking up to the biggest egotistical twat of all, laughing at his weak, bullying jokes and thanking him for the opportunity when he rudely fires them.

But I still watched it!

The 2024 series starts tonight, let's see what collection of wankers they've got for us this year. Can't be bothered to start a thread for it though.

Watched the first (2024) one: there was some Brent-ian comedy gold, in the continued juxtaposition of incredible arrogance and woefully dismal performance by several of the contestants. Sugar seems to have got in a script-writer for some of his comments. The joke comparing a dentist and a pie maker was suspiciously good, so probably not his own.

Not sure if I´ll continue with it, though.
