Never went there, but I used to go to Wraith. A squatted goth/punk/industrial night in the late 80's.

For some reason I never went to The Catacombs even though I was aware of it. I used to go to Badlands at Soundshaft, the Willam Morris in Wimbledon and the aforementioned Wraith.

I was a nightclub above the manor house pub in the 1980's

I went to parties there when it was squatted by Malfaiteurs. If it's the same place.

Was this the place in Manor House? I went there a couple of times in the late 80s. It was cheap and local. People used to drink in the Old Queens Head up by Turnpike Lane and then head down there iirc.

A mate of mine got head butted by a bouncer there on one occasion.

yeh the same place. the auld queens head of course stuart christie's regular in the 1970s.

This place came into my brain today after seeing the word 'catacombs' and natch there is a U75 thread.

A good fun club. Went there regularly for a while. Drinks in Stroud Green Road then on. Gothy, but a poppy playlist and the v occasional punch up.

We used to go there every Saturday night in the early 90's - the mixture of Goths, Indie-Kids, Crusty's, Grebo's & Punks was incredible - the overwhelming smell of Patchouli Oil - the pints of Snakebite and Black - the classic Gothic Two-Step dance to Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy, Fields of the Nephilim and The Mission - the moshing to Pop Will Eat Itself and The Wonderstuff - the baggy dancing to Stone Roses and Happy Mondays - the absolute dancefloor carnage that occurred when Smells Like Teen Spirit was played - good times!! Also went regularly to Feet First at the Camden Palace (now Koko) and upstairs at the Dome in Tufnell Park - wish I had some photos of those clubbing days - also went regularly to a good indie night at the Dandelion Pub in High Barnet....

'Dance On A Telephone'. I remember talking to 'Urban Shakedown' up there and the 'Cowboy', still got some of there posters i took off the wall for Halloween and Christmas parties.

I made contact with him a few years ago and he's singing in folk clubs, I think. He did have a lovely voice.

Oh! I've just found this. Haven't heard these songs for at least 20 years!







The keyboard player formed a band called Big Beat - and incredibly - released a version of one of our old songs only last year!
