Animating a comic strip

I can do you a simple frame to frame animation (ie: I ain't going to be making a cartoon out of it, but simply moving from one of your drawn frames to the next) if you want.
e2a: would be thursday before I can do it though

yeah thats cool, thats better than nothing at any rate! Is there any computer programme i can use to get the voices? I'm thinking of having the Scab's talking like chipmunks lol.

Windows Moviemaker which came with Windows XP and vista might be be good enough, my daughter and I have made a couple of animated films from stills, complete with soundtracks. Good for Youtube.

My gripe now is that the new Windows 7's film editing program is rubbish. Anyone know how I can put the old Windows moviemaker onto Windows 7?

I didnt even know that existed. I don't know if i have it though on the shitty computer at home; i'll have a look tho, ta , tho i doubt it.

Is there anywhere I can download it from tho?

I think I've fucked my chances of ever getting a job at british airways :D

I'm sure there are people on here who know a lot more than me, but I think you can download it onto older Windows. But you may already have it.

It'd be very very cool if someone could do the voices tho.

Bigtom I'll take u up on your offer just to see how it looks, but I'd like to have a stab at making a cartoon myself :D It's the first time I've ever done anything like this; I always used to draw cartoon characters as a kid and this is a good way of getting in touch with my inner child :D :D

I might add some minor changes tho (add some reasons why theres the strike and a bit at the end with the scabs realising how the boss is actually a complete cock and going back over the line to join everyone else) and will give the updated version on the thread or pm to anyone whose interested

:)

Maybe I'll add the reasons for the strike as like a little prologue at the beginning lol, and may add some more lolscab scenes ...

Ive been checking out some of the software - is there anything good which I can just download for free?

*off topic*
But whoever is hosting your images just threw up a porno webcam popup.. interesting tho.. whoever bigblkmelons is!
:D

*as you were

yes it keeps doing that, i'll have to get it uploaded on another site when ive sorted out the new version x

Let me know what you want to do :) I'll hold off from doing anything this afternoon until you know if you want to add anything more to it.. I'll have time over the weekend or next week.

What did you do the drawing in? are there layers in the drawing?
I'd suggest that if you are not doing it layered, you probably should as it's bound to make it easier to animate when importing the image into an animation software.

I suspect that there are better programs but you can animate stuff using after effects, though it's a daunting thing to use if you don't know how. It's not really made for animating cartoon strips though, it's a compositing program for special effects and adding CGI onto video.. but I've animated stills using it, simply for a lack of knowledge of other programs.
can't help with music or voices though, but if you get them done by someone I can drop them in over the video.

hi :)

I'll add the other pictures tonight and tomorrow and then send it to you in PM

am happy to just have the stills moved from one frame to the next - ie no cartoons

Layering whats that? Ive been doing it in microsoft paint

:D :(

I've got some scenes lined up were the boss proposes to make the planes out of wood, plastic and paper to "cut costs" and where the union have to go and meet in a shed on the edge of a cliff so they dont get discovered lol

why dont you learn flash? flash can be good for this sort of thing. I'm pretty sure you can export your animations as .avi files so you dont need flash to view them!

or you could use the approach your taking but it will be a lot of work!

pretty sure paint won't have layers - basically layers means that you would have "the boss" "the boss' speech bubble" "the workers" etc. as kind of separate images which would be placed on top of each other to create the whole image.. you can then manipulate each layer separately, so you can move the boss around without affecting the other characters, or fade the speech in and out in sequence easily..
you'll use layers (or something that''s the same, but called something else) in flash. If I knew how to use it, I'd help you out with it - I did a 2 day training course in it about 5 years ago, but can't remember anything much. Well worth it if you want to make animations though, and I don't remember it being stupidly complicated or daunting.

Will await your PM, and get a simple animation done on saturday for you anyway.
good luck with flash :)

OK here it is, improved again

Thank you so much, its downloading on to my computer now lol. I just hope Windows Media Player or whatever plays it.

I tried to play it lol but it said the file was corrupt even after downloading Winrar. Im assuming there may be a problem with my computer rather than a problem with the file, as my computer is notoriously shit

You'll need flash player to view it. Don't know if vlc Media player will play it but windows media doesn't play swf files
e2a vlc plays it on my computer
