angela lansbury rip

An excuse to post this mind you, the climax of one of the greatest kids' movies ever:

Enchanted suits of armour beating up nazis. What more could you want.

RIP Angela

First film I can remember seeing at the flicks. Have always remembered the armour scene. Sort of embedded in my brain.

Loved her in Mrs Arris goes to Paris which has just been remade but the tile is now Harris rather than Arris.

RIP after a good innings.

I'm sure I've posted this elsewhere before but I really like this picture of her from the opening of Poplar Town Hall from 1938. Her Grandfather was George Lansbury a one time Labour Party leader. She must have been about 13 at the time, but she didn't change much in the next 80 or so years.

Anyway, a woman of 96 who had famous relatives but made a success of own life without help from them.

Her first screen Rome was playing a maid in Gaslight in 1944. This apparently is her first scene. She seems to havestarted as she meant to go on.

RIP Angela Lansbury.
A gifted actress, granddaughter of George Lansbury, leader of the Labour Party from 1932 to 1935, and daughter of Edgar Lansbury, Communist Mayor of Poplar.
And I don't know what the Tories think "British values" are, but for me it's Angela Lansbury chasing Nazis on a broom.

What a woman indeed :)

So hear me out. It's very sad that Angela Lansbury has died, she was a remarkable actress who touched many hearts.

But I really would have had more respect for her if she'd also used her wealth and influence to try and deal with the underlying social issues that made Cabot Cove the murder capital of America.
