Alternatives to AirBnB?

I remember there was a time before Air BnB when you could hire apartments online, but I think the last time I did so was in 2006. Does anyone have any more recent experience of hiring a holiday home without having to resort to an enshittified Air BnB?

Will probably be looking for a hol in Spain or The Canaries, but not necessarily.

Have a look at Trivago - you can filter to pick apartments rather than hotels. I've only done so for the UK though.

Also UK , so no good for you, but I've often found cheaper stays on cottages.com than Airbnb, especially out of season.

You can still just search self catering in any given area and see what comes up. Another way is to search in AirBnB anyway, but then look for the property’s own website and go to that direct.
