Alex Jones - Two Stops Past Barking?

We were (well, I definitely was and I'm pretty sure lbj was too, if not I got the wrong end of the stick big time)

Whoops.

It remains the case that economists can be intelligent and stupid at the same time. Particularly in their axioms about "rational", empathy-free economic behaviour :)

I think we may be at cross purposes here (and I may have been also with Spiney) - you are using the term CTer as an outright term of abuse, I wouldn't necessarily. That's why I said earlier that Daily Mail readers might well regard a view that this recession was engineered and ideologically underpinned, a CT. Doesn't mean it's not correct though. If one of them called me a CTer I'd try to help them differentiate between my informed belief in that (engineered recession/austerity) from Icke-style NWO anti-Semitic balls.

I believe that it was deliberate, with an ideological base, many of us do, can we prove it though? No. We can make a persuasive case using evidence, but we can't prove it to be so.

Are people using CT to only mean Icke-style tinfoil nonsense? Maybe I am out of step.
OK, fair enough. I'd argue the proof comes simply from ideological logic, in that the only way they can stay true to their Thatcherite roots is with a relentless onsl;aught on the public sector and the workers. That's what they do.

That and the fact many of them don't even try to deny it.

Hilarious: he moans about globalist elitist power structures and the monopoly of violence they hold, and is quite happy for those people to defend him against 'communists'.

The guy is obviously unhinged and enabled by a cabal of hangers on. He thinks 'they' are putting stuff into the food and water to make him gay for god's sake. He loses his shit when confronted with second amendment issues. He thinks not only is everything a false flag but that at any moment one such event is about to kick off. There's even conspiracy theorists who think that he's Bill Hicks and that Hicks never atually died, but got cosmetic surgery to become the person we know as Alex Jones. The whole infowars thing is a massive shit show, mostly to hawk rubbish to survivalist nutbags and bitcoin enthusiasts.

He is a walking mess of contradictions. Been moaning about Obama's poh-lice state for 8 years, now slavering over the prospect of one headed by Emperor Trump.

I listen to him now and again, just to see how conspiracies get born. The Boston marathon bombings was amazing, he actually thought those guys were setup by CIA and the whole thing was a false-flag op to test the lockdown of a major city for the impending police state - er?

Alex is attempting to get custody of his kids, and his lawyer's legal argument is interesting.

attorney Randall Wilhite told a judge during a pretrial hearing that Jones is a “performance artist,” according to a report in the Austin-American Statesman, which is covering the lengthy (and expensive) custody dispute.

his ex-wife has said

“He’s not a stable person,” she said of the man with whom her 14-year-old son and 9- and 12-year-old daughters have lived since her 2015 divorce. “He says he wants to break Alec Baldwin’s neck. He wants J-Lo to get raped.

“I’m concerned that he is engaged in felonious behavior, threatening a member of Congress,” she said, referring to his recent comments about California Democrat Adam Schiff. “He broadcasts from home. The children are there, watching him broadcast.”

Jones as your Dad? Ugh.

Haven't read whole thread, but - having just finished watching the latest series of Homeland - there are many similarities between Alex Jones and the shock jock conspiraloon Brett O'Keefe and his show Real Truth, not least the downhome southern accent. I very much doubt this is a coincidence.

Charlie Warzel is @ the trial. Normally a divorce case involving children isn't something I think the media should report on, but in this instance Jones' defence that he is a "performance artist" is fascinating. He's hurt hundreds of people through his "art" ahem, conspiracy theories, from the family members of victims of Sandy Hook, to 9/11 victims and 1st responders. Not to mention the fact that his fake news could have helped sway the election. It will be an interesting case. and worth following.

Jones is set to testify later today.

But the really good bit is his defence, that InfoWars which his devoted followers look to for the lowdown on whats really going on is .. just pretend, he doesn't really mean a word of it. He's fucked isn't he.

InfoWars website males no mention of his predicament at all.
Some pretty heavy discounts in the supplement store though, get em while you can.

socrates was sentenced to death after being prosecuted using a work of fiction, not his own, about him. Lets hope alex meets the same hemlock

He seems to have stuck a video up yesterday saying this, directly contradicting what his lawyers are trying to use as his defence. :)
