Akira - live action re-make

Well it might be ok but it will have nothing to do with akira .The only good thing is when it fails at box office and it will .It will kill of evagenlion live action. I know it was written by someone basically going mad ,but, really what sort of kid would be all depressed if he got given a job which involved saving the world by driving a giant robot and killing aliens ?

1.Get up. 2.Make breakfast. 3.Go to school. 4.Fight Angel. 5.Suffer irreversible psychological damage. 6.Go home. 7.Listen to SDAT. 8.More mental impairment. 9.Repeat process.

Nothing as satisfying as someone trying to kill you and failing and its not like the aliens are actually people so you dont even have to fake feeling bad about it.
What the eva pilots need is a union :)

actually having a bunch of spolied brats driving them would make a better movie imho.
 
the side of me that buys small plastic models of eva characters has a deep urge to bludgeon you to death over these statements

Who are the tools who come up with these ideas?
Why would you remake an animated feature as live action?
What the fuck can possibly be improved upon by putting actors into it?
Is there really someone out there who thinks CGI+live action is better than excellent animation?
The amount of money that gets pissed away on rubbish action movies could probably feed the starving. In fact, just making this film is immoral when you look at it like that. :D
 
first time I watched Akira was also the first time I tried acid...

Yeah, the anime is pretty appalling as is.

As for Eva, is that not dead now? When they were first planning it a guy at ADV told me the film was a gamble and if it didn't get made it would be the end of ADV because of the money needed to buy the rights.
Gainax disowning the project and rubbishing it killed off all the investors. I don't think it's going to see the light of day. Plus they changed her name to Ray.

This thread has made me have the bloody Evangelion theme tune stuck in my head all day while trying to copy chase adverts...aargh!!!
That is one annoying tune, reminds me of supermarket sweep! :mad:

It's rubbish them making these film versions of manga, as if it's not going to have to be completely computer generated anyway. What a pile of pants. You can't re-make Akira in film.

apparently people are still on it

the name chages were aparently just for the concept art and not an actual name change

and the voice actor who did the dubbing for asuka (and her husband?) is apparently involved at some level

to be honest i'm not entierly sure if it will ever take off the ground... and even the concept art fills me with dread... the mecha might look ok and the cityscape too... but i just can't ever imagine a live action rei looking any good... i mean how are they going to do the whole blue hair and eyes thing?

some charactors might translate ok... i mean the older lot like the nerv staff probably will be ok-ish but who is going to do the kids? decent child actors are hard to find

I'm guessing they would forget about the blue hair.

The asuka vo actor is a to ADV employee isn't she?

I never like the children, but I guess it is just a staple of manga/anime.
 
the core of the story revolves around shinji and therefore also around the other pilots and misato .... get those charactors wrong and it it is flawed from the start

the older charactors might be a bit easier for example kaji wouldn't be tpoo hard i think... ritsuko and misato too
 
Oh and the kid in Eva was a little twat for being so depressed, you are 15 and you find out that you and two beautiful girls are the only people in the world who can pilot massive robots, so you have to go and live with a sexy drunk girl who has a pet penguin, why should i feel sorry for him, imagine being 15 and having to be normal and do GCSEs and not meet any sexy drunk girls or penguins or pilot any robots, that is much more depressing
