Airlander

That has to be the slowest and most gentlest aircraft crash ever. The teacup ride looks terrifying in comparison.
That's why I'd much rather crash in one of these than in an airplane.

When I was a pre-teen I had two obsessions, dinosaurs and airships. I once built a model of the Hindenburg from one of these cut out, cardboard books and I recreated the crash setting fire to it when I was 10.

I put some small bugs in the cabin as "the victims" :(

Nazi bugs?

Apparently broke away from its moorings and then and automatic deflation process happened. Looks like quite a lot of damage caused, plus the value of the helium that was lost.

I saw it flying yesterday as well. I hope they can come back from this but am worried they won’t.

Airlander 'breaks in two' and collapses

They really need a better PR representative. The crap that happens (and should be expected to happen) is far outweighing all the good stories that could come.

It doesn't have a viable commercial application so I'm wondering what the point of it all is and who's paying for it.

I stuck £100 in the last but one share issue. :(

Also, they brought the aircraft itself back from Lockheed Martin for about a 10th of the price an earlier iteration of the company had built and sold it for. Lockheed Martin commissioned it for US military trials which were cancelled.

What’s the point? Airships! I think you may have identified the flaw in the business plan.

Have the heard of drones? Perhaps they should scrap the airship and invest any remaining funds in drones. But maybe they think it's still 2003.

I love the idea of airships but , and I hate to say this, it is hard to see a future for them. Maybe for leisure trips, like we do in hot air balloons or steam trains?
