A Touch Of Frost

I also really appreciate how much better a lot of plots, not just for police procedurals but most plots, are with the absence of mobile phones.

in the job i mentioned previously, there was a point where there was a department mobile phone (and by 'department' i mean 50+ people) that you could book out if you were going to be going out and about on your own. women staff had priority use of it for safety. (one of my more 'old school' male colleagues said if he ran in to trouble, he wouldn't bugger about trying to use the bloody thing, he'd deck the bastard with it - i can imagine DI Frost taking the same approach if he's been issued with one)

think it was something like this - the whole thing came with a shoulder strap.

i'm not sure how much of the (fairly rural) patch we covered actually had a mobile phone signal at that time...

Well I’m about half way through the entire series. DS Bardock (the chief constables nephew) being shot at the end of the last episode was quite a sad moment but overall I’m really enjoying it.

I find Mr Mullet to be quite hilarious, reminds me of any number of managers I’ve had. The actor really nails the obsequious pen-pushing careerist who’s uncomfortable in his own skin with zero charm. Jack and George have an easy natural confidence which makes them better at dealing with the public.

I’m rather pleased to see the return of PC now DS Hazel Wallace, the actress reminded me of Mattie from House of Cards; looking her up I see that she’s her sister. Two very beautiful women.

I also enjoy the plummy doctors doing the post mortem, a bit of a classic trope, but still fun.

And fun is always guaranteed as to where I recognise the guest actors from, the occasional pause to look them up on IMDB is part of the watching experience.

A bumper episode of guest stars featuring none other than:

Noel Clarke
Nathan Barley
Neil from the Office / Jimmy L-A-K-E-W-E-L-L from Line of Duty

The plot was a rather interesting one involving human trafficking, quite an action packed finish. Amusing subplot with Jack going down the gym.

Endeavor is something else too - Roger Allam is just superb, up there with Michael Kitchen as Foyle.

Have to say I also really enjoy The Last Detective - will be interesting to see how it stands up to watching it repeated.
