The World's End - new Wright / Pegg / Frost film

I loved the fact that the fruit machine made the same nosie as in Shuan :)

also all the notice boards in the pubs, had great things on them, also the fact each pub name reffrenced what happend in that secne. :)

it's the small things and nods and winks that make it clever for me and enjoy it more.

Saw it yesterday, it was funny but just seemed too much like SotD so lacked originality. Fights in pubs, jumping over fences, that sort of thing. I was just thinking near the end 'cornetto? Where's the cornetto?' and there it was. That made me laugh.

The trailer on telly makes it genuinely look exactly like a cross between SotD and HF - with the fence bit and cops bit :hmm:

Is it?

I don't like the repeating fence gag. Funny once. A chore three times.

A few recurring themes and self-referrential moments but completely different characters and based on a different genre. I liked it, I thought it was funny and at times poignant. I found the ending a little OTT for my tastes, but other than that, thumbs up.

I guess I'll trust you, Jeff.

The fence thing is done on purpose as an in joke.

Just because it's an in joke doesn't make it funny. Fair enough, that bit did make me smile, but it might have been funnier if a lot of the film up to that point hadn't been an in joke too.

I suppose you'll be complaining they eat cornetto's in each one too next the unoriginal bastards etc.

Thought it was pretty damn good if a little choppy, the momentum that SotD had was better, this felt a little drawn out.

Most amusing thing was the lead character played by Pegg is almost identical to someone I know (they even have the same Sisters of Mercy tee).

I really enjoyed it. Yeah it's a bit of a formula now but it's good lightweight entertainment and there was just enough to the characters (mainly Gary) to give it some substance - as much as it needed anyway.
