A social/political/economic history of Glasgow in the 50'-80's?

Not a Girly Swot, but I like them....
'sup folks.

Can anyone point me to any books that would cover the above?

I remember reading a memoir of a midwife/health visitor in Glasgow from - I think - the 50's-60's, I can't remember it's name (borrowed it from Hillhead Library), I've found another memoir called The Green Lady, but I'm not sure that's it.

I'll happily take anything from the big macro overview to the personal memoir...

Cheers.

Shuggie Bain. Set towards the end of that and fictionalised but feels like it's earlier.

Bit earlier (and fiction) but No Mean City is worth a look.

Yeah, I read No Mean City within about a week of moving to Glasgow - I remember spending a weekend walking around Govan and Laurieston, and over the bridge to Calton, and Bridgton.

Bit of an eye opener for a smooth-faced boy from Gloucestershire, that I can tell you...

This is by a comrade of mine. You can usually get it from Calton Books. (Who will also be very happy to point you towards books that cover your criteria).
