7/7: the London bombings, BBC series

Might watch it - I remember the day very well - I was working in Dalston, so didn't need to use the tube or buses to get to work - I could walk there - but sometimes used the free Boris bendy bus. Mrs21 worked in Kings Cross and that day she was going to see her dad in Lincolnshire and was getting a train out of Kings Cross - she didn't have a mobile so I had no idea if anything had happened to her when news started filtering through - ended up calling her elderly dad and asking him to get her to call me when she got there. Because of the travel chaos that followed she didn't make it there, basically spent about 8 on various trains before getting to Finsbury Park and getting a bus home. She didn't know much about what had happened until someone who did have a mobile and was on her carriage started telling folk what had happened.

I was working on Baker Street back then. I must have got off the Met line at Baker St maybe 20 mins before the circle line train went through and I was at work by the time news of the explosions started coming through. There was a lot of worry in the office about colleagues who hadn't made it to work that day. The mobile phone network was completely overwhelmed, so no-one could even contact them. No-one I knew was caught up in it though.

I remember ringing home to let mrs mx know I was OK, and she hadn't heard about it at all.

By lunchtime, the senior guy in the office decided everyone was too shook up by the events so we all went to the pub.

It was moving to hear what people were saying. I remember the event, but not well, it was the year I went to live in Portugal. It happened about the time I left.
