“Rings of Power” - "Lord of the Rings" television adaptation

Something about CGI that turns me off, and i see everyone else complaining about bad script and/or acting. I'm not sure about that but I do find that each episode feels, subjectively, like watching a long feature film. Too long. Long and boring. Maybe because i keep pausing to do other things. Am not exactly rivetted, even though i wanted to like it. Only watched 4 episodes so far, not sure if I'm going to watch more. It's done a couple of good things for me though - got me to finishh watching the last season of the Expanse after stalling on that, and during one break from watching RoP i found Babylon 5 is streaming with ads, so watching that too. And honestly, this makes Star Trek seem riveting.

Finally got round to watching this and like some other people here it's good-looking but what a hokey script, commenting because just watched the bit after the baddies hunting Starman burn the Harfoots' wagons and her dad does the speech about sticking together and not leaving each other in the lurch when earlier we learn they do exactly that if you can't keep up. Bah. Will watch the rest though.

yeah theres a lot of that
some big reveals in last episode which you have to squint at not to question too deeply
still good fun tho

I finally caught up with season 1. On the one hand its not as bad as the hobbit films, on the other its not as good as the LOTR films (extended versions obvs). Saw everything coming except the sauron reveal at the end, that was well done. Elrond's hair is awful. Galadriel talking to the twisted elf was good, lots of orc based stuff was worth it. Saddock and the migratory hobbits .

Gandalf storyline was dragged out some but paid off. I'll give it a 7 out of ten overall. Will watch s2

Elronds hair :D
wasn't sure which one he is but yeah

Looking forward to this. While the first season did have it's flaws, it was nowhere near as bad as sneering purists made out, and I reckon they will have learnt from some of the problems with pacing etc. It has to be better than season 2 of house of the dragon anyway, and will benefit from not directly competing this time.

I'm looking forward to it too.
First season started very slow but it did become pretty good.

OK so I just watched the end of season 2 and

That elf guy was stabbed twice with a big sword last episode, they even did the "twist it in the wound" thing that's code for "this guy is now dead" and his body dropped to the floor, unmoving - and yet here he is bounding about shooting arrows and there isn't a fucking mark on him! No tear in his clothing, nothing. Not even a limp! What the fuck.

Other than that it was alright. I liked how they made Sauron look more alien as he did more evil stuff. The hobbits aren't really working, but I think they realised that. Numenor is a fucking weird place.

Will be interesting to see why the dwarves "dig too deep" now they know there's a fucking Balrog underneath them

But the worst bit is definitely
"Grandelf". Fuck my life.
