Lord Camomile

Yipchaa!
GB V New Zealand is the first event of London 2012 to take place. Even though it's before the opening ceremony. And in Cardiff. :hmm:

:D

70 mins gone in the second half, GB ahead thanks to a Steph Houghton free kick

Hampden Park trolling the North Koreans:

Hope they've got the right anthem...

BBC are reporting that with the underlying tone of "those crazy communist North Koreans".

Like how would English players have reacted if there was an irish or Argentinian flag shown in the 80s.

BBC wankers. I'm determined not to watch any of their shite over the next few weeks. ESPN stream for the win.

Really? I've only just read the web report, but seemed pretty to the point to me

e2a: massive cock-up by the organisers though. Almost unbelievable to be honest. Almost.

bet you there will be next to no hassle or grief in Cardiff compared to the other venues
events are done well here as a rule, the city centre is set up for it and can easily handle the people

I was listening on radio 4. All the focus was on them walking off rather than their being a cock-up by our esteemed Olympic Committee.

Ffs  just back from Hampden with my little bruv.

They said fuck all about what was going and why the match was prosponed- they did read out the DPR Korea team names 3xs though, a penance?

Anyway got the Mexican wave going in the delay- get in.

The USA/France match was fun.

Wasn't that because they also got the name of the country wrong at least once?

Were the SFA involved in this by any chance?

dunno didn't notice anything amiss.

I can just imagine the announcer when preparing his piece being " ahh North , south what's the difference?"

maybe they got confused by the Democratic part of the DPR of the name?

Huge police operation for 10 000 people- security I guess- the delay was making me think think a team had been taken hostage or something.

They were saying loads of people missed the GB team kick off in Cardiff due to the amount of bag searching (and probably lack of staff due to those G$S chumps).

My tickets explicitly say 'dont bring bags' - you can, but it'll take much longer to get in if you do. They made it fairly clear you can't treat it like an ordinary match, that they'll be loads more security to go through.

@belboid
Radio 4 found the idiot who hadn''t read that bit - in fact he claimed the tickets said nothing about it.
I go along with your side of the story as the tickets will all say the same thing

actually, i tell a fib, it isn't actually on the ticket, but was in all the accompanying stuff. that talks of potential 'lengthy delays.' depends how long they were waiting as well, of course.

going bagless, we were thinking of getting there tomorrow for about 4.

I went bagless to the opening ceremony rehearsal, and planning to again for Wembley on Sunday. I appreciate not everyone has that option, but it seems pretty obvious that the more you take, the longer it will take for everyone to get through.

Of course, there's probably a lot of "oh, my one little bag won't matter, everyone else will be following the guidelines"...  :D

there were people in Cardiff with packed cool boxes and picnic boxes etc
even after it was explained that it was basically an airport style set up and they'd been given the clear plastic bags to put their stuff in to go through the scanners

The Cardiff game was well organised . The lines for bag searching weren't too long . Though anyone who turned up at 3.55 expecting to be in their seat for 4 o'clock kick off is an idiot

The GB team started off terribly. They were playing like a bunch of girls but got going after 15 mins and dominated the game after that.

Couple of very good goals contribute to a 3-0 win for GB. Puts them through to the QFs, and they've got a match at Wembley against Brazil for their final group match
