Wireless Bluetooth headphones and earphones - recommendations and chat

I lost my pair of excellent Sony wf1000xm4

I couldn’t find any new for a sensible price, only used. I think stocks may be low as the new xm5 have just come out.

When I bought the xm4, it was a toss up between those and AirPod pro2, having equally good reviews and being similar price. Having an iPhone I would’ve gone with the AirPods but then found the xm4 with about 80 quid off. No brainer.

This time I got the AirPod pro2.

They are excellent, although I replaced the silicone ear tips with memory foam ones.

I think I prefer them to the xm4 as they are lighter and less bulky. With the new ear tips they seal equally, if not better than the xm4.
I think that may have been the issue with the Soundcore pair I had first off.

Also, I prefer that all controls on the AirPods are mirrored and there’s better integration to iOS.

Tldr: AirPod pro2 very good.

Any ear buds- Get memory foam ear tips if your silicone tips don’t seal very well. Most brands/models are available third party. ‘Comply’ seem to be a leader here.

I've got an upgrade on the Soundcore Q20s to the Q30s as an early birthday present. Rather impressed. I really like the tap the side for transparency when I've got it on NC mode and the fact that you can change the type of NC. Bonus is when I'm in shops and have the NC but also the transparency on it's like one of those old fashioned FBI satellite dish on a handle and headphones combos that let you eavesdrop on conversations. Rather defeating the noise cancelling you might think but it's A1 for finding out what stock they're reducing in charity shops :D

"Tldr: AirPod pro2 very good" This still your opinion danski ?? Also, still same view on the Comply memory foam tips??

Current Amazon offer for me = 13% off and pay interest free over 5 months, so I pulled the trigger. Use a Mac and an iPad but have Android phones. I've developed tinnitus (ffs!) and the ANC is a must, but prefer the utility of buds over lugging my (by comparison) huge Bose headphones around with me all the time. Much easier to stick buds in my pocket innit.

Indeed. Love em and feel lost without them. I hope you have the same experience. :)

You were right - they are very good. I used them with my MacBook today in a noisy cafe when I was trying to concentrate. The ANC is fab. Battery life is fab. That facility where you can listen to music or whatever and play a background noise is fab. All good so far.

Audiobook testing on my iPad later.

Phew! I’m really pleased. I really love mine

My Anker A1 in ear things have started playing up 18 months after buying them. The left one has gone much quieter and I've checked for blockages. Really frustrating. I'm not sure I'd replace like for like, but they are reduced to £27 on Amazon and I guess I'd have a spare right one that way. Unless anyone can recommend something ok around £30. I actually quite liked the ones I had which had a wire between the two, but it appears Anker has abandoned that form factor and most of the ones I can see are made by companies I've not heard off.

The cheap Aukey EP-N5 ones I got after someone recommended them on one of these threads have done the same, gone so quiet they're basically unusable, but both sides of mine are fucked. If it was just one that wouldn't be an issue as I don't tend to wear them both at once anyway.

I mean the sound has been pretty good on those Ankers, I was probably recommended them or something and was surprised to see them so cheap. My main niggle is they fit really well with the various rubber bits, but you then have to move the rubber bits to check they are charging in the case. Maybe I'm being petty and at £27 I should just buy another pair.

I would do that if you like them. Great price too.

I liked my Anker P2s until they disappeared. Not noise cancelling but they fitted my ears so well that they blocked everything out anyway.

I tried replacing them with Echo buds and Haylou buds and Aukey buds - all crap IMHO.

I tried the Anker A40's and found the noise cancelling to be just pathetic - returned.

Interestingly the P2 are only £16 and look simpler to put in. Did you find they stayed in well enough? I use them pretty much exclusively for running.

I need some new ones that:
1) won’t break when I stand on them in hiking boots
2) have a strap so if they fall out, I don’t lose them.
3) don’t cost much as I will inevitably lose or misplace them even if clauses 1) and 2) are satisfied.
4) are shiny or colourful or summat so I can easily find them when I’ve misplaced them.

Anyone know of such an impossible product?

Mine just charged when you put them back, no faffing around. I'll probably end up buying another pair the same and all.

Not sure if they do adult sizes

Mine were the P2, not the P2i. They stayed in my massive ears well, and never fell out, unlike some others - I do not run, though, so YMMV.

No, sorry. Sounds like you need headphones rather than buds OU

Ah well fuck it, I've ordered the P20i's. At £16 they will probably do the job and look I can adjust them in ear when running easily enough. I run in the rain sometimes and next to roads often, so I'm not looking anything audiophile by a long stretch.

Makes sense!

Well for £16 I'm pretty impressed. Think I prefer the form factor as well. I don't have to contort them to get them in my ears.

Right then all you hip groovy tech-savvy urbanites, what's the latest recommendation for in-ear buds suitable for sport, so with an over-ear doofer to prevent loss/fallout ? Ideally at the lower end of the price spectrum so when I do manage to lose one while deadlifting I won't cry too much ?
