Why is injury time not displayed on stadium screens?

I did google it but could not see the answer.

As most match-going fans will know, the clock stops at 90 minutes on the stadium's screen displays and just stop counting. Why the fuck is that? Unless one remembers to start the stopwatch feature on the phone when it turns 90 minutes, you're left in limbo. I really don't understand the logic behind it.

without going and looking anything up...

the fourth official (or whatever the heck they are called this week) indicates the minimum amount of stoppage time that there is at the end of the half.

however, it's in the ref's control.

if (say) 4 minutes is displayed at the end of the 90, that does not mean it's 4 minutes and no more - there could be further stoppage time.

American sports have the scoreboard timer also stopping whenever the ref stops the game, so that the game always finishes dead on time. Always wondered why they don't do that over here......would make it a lot more exciting for last second goals and al that.

I'm not sure if it's on the screens, but the ref stops the clock in rugby, although play continues interminably after it reaches 80 minutes until the ball goes out of play.

No football stadium should have a scoreboard. What are they there for? Why don't you know what the score is?
