Where's cheapest for a family friendly all inclusive?

Spain, Croatia, Bulgaria or Greek Islands?
One week, late July, probably a resort used by Brits so my youngest can make friends in the kids club.

Of those, almost certainly Bulgaria. Turkey probably cheaper. All a rip off as you’d be able to source your own edible food and undiluted alcohol cheaper in all those countries.

I’ve looked. Gf thought it might be a good idea as we’ve never been on one. Turns out there’s a reason for that.

If I was going to go anywhere all inclusive I'd go to the closest one so Spain.
There seems very little point in going anywhere further if you plan never to leave the hotel complex. As long as the sun is shining, who gives a fuck where it is?

I cook every day, so I like a holiday where really good chefs cook for me and it's something I've never eaten before. But family want sun and familiar, so finding the balance is tricky.

I've done all inclusives in Menorca and Egypt.
Egypt was 5 star but fell well below what I'd expect at a 3 star in Europe tbh. Rooms basic and limited food choices.
The Menorca one was lovely, modern and three restaurants offering a huge range of fresh fish, stuff kids like (that they'd heard of :D), well cooked, regional food that I liked etc.

Spain/Menorca/Portugal winning at the moment.

I'd definitely stick in that area. Greece is really quite a long way to go if you're not really going to go to Greece (IYSWIM:D )

Spain's the safe bet. I love Bulgaria. It's extremely inexpensive (beer about 60p/pint; meals out for a few quid) and you don't have to go far from the Black Sea resorts to find some incredible scenery and beaches. The downside is that the tourist areas are packed with Russians and they can be an acquired taste, and the whole country can feel a bit tired and 70s for typical western European tastes but that won't matter if you're going to stay in the resort.

Ta, just what I wanted to know. The Egyptian hotel was mostly Russian guests, which I thought might be interesting, but nobody would let on they spoke English (if they did) and I'm sure not all Russians are like that but the national pastimes seemed to be shouting, queue jumping, fag smoking and child smacking. If I'd stayed any longer I'd have started becoming the sort of xenophobic knob I usually avoid.

I did my first ever all inclusive this year in Turkey. I didn't particularly want to go to Turkey but when I gave my list of criteria to the travel agent and they did a bit of research. Turkey had the best and the cheapest deals. I didn't plan on leaving the resort so I didn't really care where I was

It was great - a proper flake and bake holiday with additional eating and drinking. And I did a lot of eating and drinking...

I think Bulgaria would be cheap, but having been to Sunny Beach last year, I can't recommend it at all. Thought it was horrible, although I did go at the end of September and the weather was rubbish. I'd go for Turkey, but don't expect amazing quality of food/drinks if you go for a cheap all inclusive.

I’ve done a couple in Benidorm; food a bit average but acceptable so we ended up eating out a lot (which kind of defeats the object) but food on tap by the pool is useful for kids.
Did a four star one in Mexico and that was amazing. Different restaurants to choose from in two locations rather than just the one dining hall with various things to pick from.

The Fethiye area, or Icmeler (near Marmaris, but not Marmaris itself) would be best for a family, I think.

I'm a couple, no kids as they've grown up. Same? Looking for beach and a bit of culture. Walking long distances not so easy these days.

Sunny Beach is no more representative of Bulgaria than Magaluf is of Spain or Faliraki is of Greece. It's a purpose built resort town with all that that entails. The interesting stuff is further down, Burgas, Sozopol, Primorsko ...

Oh, got mixed up with ringo
Hm, yeah, I would always recommend the Fethiye area but be careful where exactly you book. Ovacik/Hisaronu are cheap, but the main strip there is a bit hell-like (full of drunk Brits :p and "cheap as chips"). But the surrounding areas and number of places you can get to are fantastic, eg. abandoned Greek village, beautiful coves (easy to go to on a boat trip), valleys with freezing cold water (very refreshing), fish market where you can buy your own seafood and pay a restaurant a minimal fee to cook it for you. I could go on.

I know that, and there are several places in Bulgaria I like very much, but if someone goes into a travel agent looking for a cheap all inclusive package, the chances are that it's going to be in Sunny Beach.

Go on?

How would I avoid drink Brit hell? Definitely don't want that.

Well, I often book a cheap hotel (just make sure air con is included) but just use it as a base to jump on public transport and visit places around the region. Give me a min and I'll dig up some photos from my holiday last month.

This is the view from the top of Babadag mountain. Down there you can see Olu Deniz lagoon. A minibus takes you up the mountain for about a pound and you can have a coffee or snack with this view.
