Wellies/waterproof boots

Thora

Differently Ethical
I want to buy a decent pair of wellies, but not spend £100 on Hunters.
I have a cheapo £10 pair at the moment that have lasted brilliantly but aren’t very comfortable.
I need them for both long, muddy, country walks and walking on pavements.
Any recommendations? Can’t seem to identify a mid range between Dunlop’s and really expensive

Decathlon. Mine were a bit under twenty quid iirc, still good as new several years later and they're the best wellies I've ever had. Worn them for the 10 mile walk on pavements to college and back, and working 10 hour days on a farm, and they're always comfy as fuck.

Thora my recommendation is that you try before you buy.
I think there should be room for a warm pair of thicker than usual socks.

I just got a pair of size 13s, which are quite snug so I think they are probably a bit too small.

I know you don’t want Dunlop but after spending so much money over the years, my best pair of wellies are my Dunlop low wellies. Thick soles, comfy, loads of room for socks and I think they were less than a tenner on Amazon. I’ve got black and green and had them more than 10 years and they’ve survived dog walking and very muddy festivals.

Ah good thread. I was finding myself eyeing up very expensive french ones which just isn't worth it for the amount of time i'd wear them (no dog to walk, or horse to look after ). My last ones were dunlop, but R wears them now, and although they're fine, i fancy something different. I'm going for the warm tall wellies.

I got my girls Grubs neoprene wellies a couple of weeks ago after treating myself to a pair of Aigle Parcours. I didn't realise how expensive they'd become. The daughters walk miles in them and can't rate them highly enough.

Neoprene wellies.

That is all.

(Personally I wouldn't bother with le chameau, or hunter: the quality of both has dropped massively and lots of people have problems with them - aigle are brilliant quality but ££, muckboot, grub, dirtboot, decathlon, and dunlop are all good, solid performers.)

I'll put my usual plug for Percussion, in here.

Similar quality to Aigle and half the price of Le Chameau.

I've got the Rambouillets, which are the same as those Solognes in the link but with a full zip. They keep you dry and you can walk comfortably all day in them for a lot less than £100. They come up really large though, so get a full size smaller than you'd usually wear.
