Warsaw - a good place for the office Xmas party?!

secretsquirrel

Respectable married lady
My company's a touch eccentric. For Xmas every year the boss takes everyone away for a couple of days. Last year it was Berlin.

However this year, despite being given the choice of Rome, Lisbon and Madrid, somehow my boss is even as I type booking us all onto easyjet flights to Warsaw.

So, convince me oh wise urbanites that I will have an absolutely cracking time stuck in sub zero temperatures in the middle of E.Europe with my 4 other work colleagues for 3 days.

What's good about Warsaw? Where to go, what to see, where to stay, what to eat and ... most importantly... where to drink. Because I think I might need quite a lot of booze to get through the experience.

(I am also applying for other jobs right now and really hoping one comes up v.v.soon...)

You'll have an ace time. Just try to stay away from the awful Egyptian themed restaurants and you'll be ok. The jazz scene in Warsaw is great. Go to Tygmunt - it's the best jazz club imo.

It must be five years since I was last in Warsaw but there used to be a great Jewish restaunt called the Pod Samsonem (sp?) just outside the Old Town.

:D How funny. I read that as I was literally following a link to 'Sphinx Restauracje' wondering wtf it was all about!

Are there lots of Egyptian restaurants there? Why?!?!

I'd love it if we got to go to Warsaw for our christmas do :(

Tis all a big fiddle really - gets written off against tax, means he doesn't have to give us an Xmas bonus (mind you, can't even remember the last time I got of those!) and pay rises are almost never heard of.

Well, I guess it will be 'interesting' if nothing else! :D

I loved Krakow. Warsaw got the worst of the WWII bombing and so isn't as pretty but i'm sure it will still be a good craic and a damn sight cheaper to eat and drink in than Rome.

They've done up the centre quite nicely..

But to be honest it doesn't exactly lend itself as a 'fun' destination city..

This was 11 years ago.. so who knows !!

UPDATE: well, the good news is the boss has decided Krakow is the better location. Phew! So, things to do in Krakow..?!
