Walking: London to Bristol

didn't fancy following the canal

not looked too far ahead but we think there's an old canal after bath which we plan to pick up.

we need to be in Box and quarrymen arms on Friday night to meet up with a mate..

I'd follow the Kennet and Avon down to Bath from Reading, it's easy walking and plenty of shops for supplies and you won't get lost

Man its noisy under Heathrow flight path - some gorgeous houses along the river but aircraft can't be more than 300 ft above.

still, after yesterday we slept well and now heading reading way - following Thames.

due to various aches and pains we're taking @tonyheath advice and following canal from Reading.

Just through Datchet and heading towards Windsor.

When you get on the canal there are signs telling you the distances between locks, it's well worth taking a photo so you know how far it is to the next shop/water

The canal from bradford on avon to bath is really nice walk. From there it's a (disused railway) cycle path to bristol, not canal path.

Yeah, when you get to Bath follow the river and you'll pick up the cycle path at the other side of town.

finished the walk on Sunday having seriously under estimated the trip! We did though have a fantastic time and surprisingly, some very good weather. I'll post up some piccys soon but wanted to say thanks for all the tips - in the end we did follow the kennet and avon canal which got more and more stunning the further went.

had two very good night's in thee Cross Guns in Avon Cliff and the Barge Inn in Pewsey.

Ebo Taylor on Sunday night was fantastic and though tired, danced our socks off

yes, i really can't understand why the royal family built windsor castle there...
