Vos:What's the point in going on?

1927

Funnier than he thinks he is.
According to BBC Marianne Vos has actually said that the dominance of Team GB at the velodrome has totally deflated the Dutch team. She said something along the lines of , when you see the GB dominance what is the point of carrying on for 4 more years.!!

Is Team GB unhealthy for cycling as a sport?

Awww bless!

If she can still win, why cant the rest of her team?

Maybe the dutch team can lobby the UCI to come up with a handicapping system? :D (Slab of concrete strapped to Chris Hoy?)

Has every other cricketing nation given up over the last 15 years?

It's one Olympics. OK so the cyclists are able to train full time here etc but surely the technological developments made by GB will filter through to the rest of the sport?

Strange that the sport is quite happy for years but as soon as we hit the front other people are talking about giving up

Exactly.

Hard to imagine the total impotence other nations are feeling tho with our ownage of the velodrome. lets frigging enjoy it we dont get the chance to totally dominate a world sport very often. :D

I was reading someone (either Wiggins or Hoy I think) saying they'd been seriously surprised at how little competition they'd had throughout the track events. Nobody's even got close and they thought it would be harder than this.

let's see a few stage wins from you next year Brad and see how easy that is!

Yes, and every other country is saying 'Well, China have like a zillion medals so we're not going to bother competing in 2012'

New, and higher, standard has clearly been set in the track cycling, it's up to Denmark and the rest to raise themselves...

It's understandable though - Vos is just saying what others are thinking. She probably knows that if her country's cyclists were getting the kind of funding the British are then they would have a much better chance of medals, but if that doesn't happen then what hope is there? It's like the rest of the Premier League clubs trying to compete with Man U and Chelsea - basically, they all know they can't win the league because they can't compete financially.

British sport does something right shocker!

So we start being crap in a sport, we realise we need to invest in it, and when we do we get criticised for raising the standard too high!!!

Fuck me. I hope Andy Murray doesnt actually go and win Wimbledon how bad would that look?

By the way it wasnt Vos as reported by Hazel Irvine, it was Boss(sp)

No.

I like having a team I support being completely dominant in something for a change. :p
