Volunteering opportunities in Brixton

Afternoon all. My irregular employment gives me a lot of free time which I would like to use to get to know Brixton better, learn something, offer something, perhaps open up new opportunities who knows.

Would anyone know of/have any such opportunities? I suppose that something in an education or learning capacity would suit best, but I'm happy to consider all ideas. Ta

Rushy - thanks a lot for that, I've worked with kids before as a teacher and mentoring would be great. I'll sign up asap.

boohoo - I've taken a look at that site - are you just referring to the Brixton mural? What does the work involve? I'm happy to come down for a chat whenever if you prefer.

Thanks to both.

As the coronavirus hits, there are going to be vulnerable people that need help. Does anyone know of any organisations that are coordinating this or that need volunteers?

I noticed that Vida Walsh have a banner outside asking for volunteers although I don't think it is specifically coronavirus related. (Saltoun Road).

I think the food banks are asking for help

On radio 4 this morning someone from a Foodbank was saying donations have dropped.

Foodbanks expect increase in need as people in precarious low paid jobs lose work. Half the working poor are in employment. So its a lot.

So asking people to put something in the donation boxes in supermarkets.
