Visa for Egypt

I'm off to Egypt in early March and have just started looking up visa requirements. I'm not clear from what I'm reading whether I can get a visa on arrival or whether I need to apply in advance and there seems to be an onloine service as well.

Anyone had recent experience or just know the answer?

And I think I've found the answer anyway now....

"you can get a visa online at Visa2Egypt. Tourist visas granted using the e-visa system are valid for a maximum of 3 months. Although it’s still possible to get a tourist visa on arrival, it’s better to get one before you travel."

not sure kippers widely available in egypt so take some with you

Yeah online is much easier. We almost got fooled into paying more on arrival. It was an absolute bun fight with people from travel agents boosting the prices.

Did you use the same link as the one above? I was nearly burnt recently getting an ESTA and the link being to a broker rather than the US Immigration website and they tried to charge an extra fee.

No, sorry we paid when we got there - which was when we almost got screwed over.
We did it online when we went to New York and it was easy.

I got mine when I arrived at Alexandria port. Egyptian officials came aboard and issued the right paperwork.

I got one in the airport at Sharm when I was planning to also go to Cairo. Easy peasy.

It turned out to be a very good decision to get mine in advance as we were 2 hours late leaving London and I would have missed the connecting flight in Cairo if I hadn't!

It's super easy to do online and I'd recommend doing it.
