if you could buy a handbag made out of a good looking vintage radio with the insides stripped out would you?
No, I don't really do wacky/quirky.
Could I get a gentleman's messenger bag made from a radiogram?
It would be a bit painful to carry I'd have thought, bashing into you. And heavy. And vulnerable to bits falling off. I'd buy other things made out of radios though.
I would if an effective shoulder strap could be incorporated within a cohesive aesthetic. I have short strap handbags, and I pretty much never use them.
Dunno. Something relatively static. The "bits falling off" part is probably most significant - people make briefcases and things out of wood after all. In fact I have a portable briefcase / writing desk made out of wood which isn't all that heavy - one of these http://www.travellingdesk.comwhat things?

I don't think I've ever taken it out of the house, but it is good. It even has an inkwell.you have one of those?
The vintage leather and wood radios are quite pricey. What do you think your labour and materials costs would be?they'd certainly need to retail for less than £195 http://www.typeeast.com/products/roberts-radio-handbag

£75 would be fine as a price point if they're vintage ones I reckon. What do you think about those small transistor radios as across the shoulder mobile phone holders?looking at spares or repair on ebay they seem to come in around the £20-30 mark including post, less if you're lucky/choose well. if i could find them in a charity shop or car boot prolly less. fittings - pennies. lining would depend on materials used, suede would up it, but £5 tops. labour would be the time to strip them out, line, fit hinges/catches - i dunno, 2-3 hours? add another hour and extra materials cost to fit a shoulder strap.
£75 max including shoulder strap too much?
