Unable to download members only guides from B&W site

panpete

Blokes name, birds body.
Hello

I am a subscriber of the benefitsandwork website even though I am a subscriber and currently logged in.
I keep getting the page that tells me to subscribe, and cannot access the members only guides.
I think it is a very difficult site to navigate and would love some help to download WCA handbook and PIP handbook, thanks

You've just reminded me my subscription has run out. Yeah, I agree with you, it's not the easiest site to use

Are you just subscriber, or have you actually paid anything. You have to be a paid up member to read the guides I think

He is, but he's usually resting in the evening. And I haven't got paid up access to that site, so I can see no more of it than anyone else who hasn't paid the current subscription.

Yes.
is it ok to contact him tomorrow - lucklily i kept my receipt for my membership payment

You could PM VP now. It's just that you probably wouldn't get a reply before late tomorrow morning.

Yo ViolentPanda get your arse over to this thread - pretty please with sugar on it.

It's not just panpete who's had trouble getting access.

This worked for me, earlier today:

Log in to the B & W site.
Once you're logged in, click on "members only guides" on the left hand side of the page.
For the WCA handbook, click on the "Employment and Support Allowance" link.
On the linked page, scroll down to "WCA Handbook", right-click on it, and choose "save link as..." from the menu. In the dialog box that pops up, choose where you want to save the file (I generally save to my desktop), then click on the "save" button.

For the PIP handbook, go back to the "members only guides" page, scroll down to the PIP section, and click on the "Personal Independence Claims and Medicals" link. Scroll down the resulting page to "PIP Assessment Guide", right-click on it, and choose "save link as..." from the menu. In the dialog box that pops up, choose where you want to save the file (I generally save to my desktop), then click on the "save" button.

So do you have to pay to get any useful info from that site, or can you simply register and get it for free?
IMHO there are useful snippets among the free stuff, but IMHO it's well worth subscribing (if you can afford it at all) to get the downloads.

To put this into perspective, the Disability Rights Handbook often isn't free either, and IME it's less good when it comes to helping fill in the forms than the B&W downloads are.

Thanks for that. I've just attempted to register (no mention of any cost so far) but am still waiting for the email with link that will enable me to complete the process :hmm:

In case it's of any help to anyone, I found this site the other day, which has lots of advice for people undergoing the DWP ESA Atos Healthcare medical examination or assessment.

This page has details of the points awarded in the DWP ESA Atos Healthcare assessment for limited capability for work and the considerations in the ESA assessment for limited capability for work related activity.

Now that I think of it, is anyone who has already downloaded this WCA Handbook willing to email me a copy if I give you me email address?

Why isn't the stuff free?

ETA I mean other than the obvious reason that they are venal bloodsucking pricks.
Bear in mind that the last I heard, the B&W site is run by one man, in what time he can spare. If you need a download and PM VP, he might be able to oblige.

BTW if you want to be angry, be absolutely furious at the DWP for making the benefit process so difficult that you need to get information from a specialist.

I got the WCA handbook but still having trouble downloading the PIP handbook, as there is no "Personal Independence Claims and Medicals" link.

Hello
Anyone to advise me please....

I am currently in full time employment (low income). I receive around £250 a week after tax etc...
I am 22 years old and i believe me entitlement is that of a room rate.
My question is ..dose anyone know on average how much HB would pay for someone in my situation i live in SE London... and if i am entitled to something can i use the HB towards a 1bed flat if i am willing to pay the difference out of my wadges ...

If a 1bed flat is £190 a week
and H.B paid £60 a week and i paid £130
is that allowed or if i am entitled would i only be able to move into a bedroom in a house share etc?
I have called HB but didn't find them helpful they said first find a property and come back to us ... all i want to know on average how much i could b entitled to ??

Please help meeeeee

*shrug* your choice. Think of it as the same amount of wariness you'd show towards a complete stranger in real life.
