Toes in shoes and holes in socks/tights

aqua

made of cheese and gin
So, I just bought some ace shoes but it made me remember about whenever I wear tights I always get holes on the big toe. I think it comes from being flat footed that my toe points up more than it should. The nail is never long etc

Anyway, is there any way to stop this? It's not a shoe size issue, I'm an 8.5 and of course that doesn't exist so I buy 9s. it happens with socks too.

I love these shoes but I can't afford new rights every bloody time.

This happens to me for exact same reason and like you I have no idea what to do about it...soz

Does it feel like there's pressure on your toe? And are the shoes leather? If so, you can use a something with a smooth metal handle (I use the handle of a fishslice) and poke it in to the shoe to where the tight bit is, and rub quite firmly in that spot. It stretches the leather slightly and relieves the pressure.

It could also be because the shoe is too loose - in which case maybe an insole would keep your foot more stable and stop it rubbing so much.

They do pinch on the top yes, this time I've bought leather so I'll try the metal handle thing. Cheers.

I might also just wear then around the house and break them in. They're so cool :D

Now if anyone can tell me how to stop smelly feet I'll be delighted :D

How sharp/rough is your big toe's toenail ?

If I haven't trimmed mine recently, socks get shredded very quickly ...

Toe nail always will trimmed, it's not that. The top of the nail runs, if I have nail varnish on it rubs off too

Where from?

MY GP gave me a referral for my orthotics but I have, supposedly, arthritis in both knees. You can also get them made by a private podiatrist - costs about £100 IIRC. You can get a lot of pairs of tights for that though.

Boots sell generic arch supports that you could try.

I had proper ones made after my 2 broken feet (don't ask!) but I didn't find them comfortable at all, mainly because they made them for lady shoes and they slide around in my Docs. I get the Orthaheel ones from Boots - expensive but last for ages.
