Lewisham and Southwark College has been singled out by the Tories for the harshest cuts of any Further Education College in the country. One site has already been closed and another at Camberwell due to go. 312 jobs are at risk with around 200 jobs eventually being cut. This with devastate South East London by almost demolishing FE in 2 boroughs where it is a crucial second chance for many people.

FUNDRAISING GIG AT THE AMERSHAM - THURSDAY 21st MAY - 7.30-1.30am
Acts include: ONE JAH (formed at Lewisham College) / COLIN SAMURAI / STEVE MORRISON / TRACKHORSE / CERI JAMES. MIKUS (Dub DJ set) and PAT LYONS Master of ceremonies.

im really not sure what the next step is - i was invited by a mate who works at the college in the music dept - i didnt get to chat with him properly yesterday. I will call him in the week though and report back... but im sure there will be more of something

Dear supporter,
With there being a continued threat of compulsory redundancies at Lewisham Southwark College, members of the University and College Union (UCU) will be taking a day of strike action on Thursday 4th June. Details for the day are as follows:

• Lewisham Way: Picket line from 7.30am, starting at Breakspears Road (back) entrance. Second picket will commence after 8am at front entrance.

• Deptford: Picket line at entrance to car park from 7.30am onwards.

• Waterloo: Picket line outside front entrance on The Cut (opposite Southwark tube) from 7.30am onwards.

• Camberwell: Picket line outside front entrance (on Southampton Way) from 7.30am onwards.

There will then be a rally, taking place from 11-12, at Friendly Gardens  - a park in between Lewisham Way and Deptford campuses. (Map: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/search/friendly+gardens/@51.4711175,-0.027707,17z/data=!3m1!4b1)
