Just saw this on Sky Anytime.

What a great film.

More than just your usual brainlesss horror shlock.

The woman who played the religious nutter should be up for an Oscar, if the Academy liked horror films, which they don't.

And the ending was really unexpected, but what a downer.

Fab film. I loved it.

I watched it on sky anytime as well . I remember reading the book that it was in so knew there wouldn't be a happy ending although I couldn't actually remember how it ended . Strangely I don't normally like film adaptions of Stephen King books but this was very well done and I quite enjoyed it , the only downside was I kept thinking of The Punisher while I was watching it because I'm sure the main bloke played Frank Castle in that .

I was pretty sure the director had changed the ending from that in the short story?

In any event, the director's other credits are made up almost entirely of writing on other Stephen King adaptations (Shawshank and Green Mile amongst them iirc) so it would make sense that he is familiar with King's oeuvre.

He did. He also prefers the the version of the film in B&W to colour, cause it hearks back to '50s reds-under-the-bed fillums. And not because the SFX look less shit at all... ;)

Director said you should watch it in black and white.

I remember the book version, utter atmosphere. And the ending in the film is slightly darker.

(only posting to try and fit in hors d'œuvre :( )

watched this last night. One of the best horror films I've seen in a long time but omg, what a disturbing ending :eek: Really didn't see that one coming

I saw it on Sky a couple of months ago and have just bought the DVD to see the black and white version. It's a cracker and got me thinking about how few Hollywood films I've enjoyed as much in the last couple of years. Not many that's for sure...

Curse me and my poor searching skills.

When I searched for "Mist", I got about 124 unrelated threads.

I did a search for "mist" and "film" and got 37 threads.

I then went to the "books, films, tv" forum and searched for "mist" and "film" and got 21 threads.

Anyway, I've never seen it. Is it like The Fog? :hmm:

Marcia Gay Harden - she's in series two of Damages playing a character about as far removed from that as it's possible to get. According to IMDB she won a best supporting actress Oscar in 2001 for Pollock (never seen it).
