The lonely tech post thread.

All of the links on the Office/365 page point directly to Microsoft. eg. https://officecdn.microsoft.com/db/...7c6ddf67d60/media/en-us/O365ProPlusRetail.img
I didn't check any of the Windows links.

Maybe I'm explaining myself badly.

Yes they are Microsoft links. But the reason that page is great is Microsoft won't provide these links on a webpage, probably because they don't want to make it to easy.

You need to sign to download the software. I suspect these link are for tools. Like if I download Office with winget, I don't have to enter credentials.

I've converted pdfs to LibreOffice. Sometimes it works fine but if there's two columns it often seems to mix up text between the columns, which is a pain to sort out.
Top tip if you're filling out a form that comes as a PDF - import it into LibreOffice Draw (I daresay other office suites are available, but I know it works with Draw), then you can just draw text boxes on top of it and complete the form (remember to change the font size from the default 18). Then re-export it as a PDF again, and you're good to go.

I've done similar before. A pet hate is job applications in the past that came as PDFs. Like do they expect you to hand write it?

Word trashed the formatting, which was fine, but did manage to keep the table, so it could be pasted into Excel.

I have 3x APC Back-UPS pro 1500. I replaced the batteries in two of them in February, and when I bought batteries for the third one last week, the price had jumped from €19.86 to €72. Same batteries from the same supplier. Original ones from APC are €135
Well I replaced the battery :) Cost £16 including p&p which I thought was very fair.

They're fucking fiddly to replace though, You have to connect the earth first but the live is then tucked away underneath with a really short lead. I'm not totally sure it's connected properly because you can't see because the earth is in the way. It's working ok so I presume so but I'll doubtless find out for sure when it's charged up, I'll switch off power to it.

So ta for advice :)

ooh and UnderOpenSky ta for your advice too

Is there any way of putting my VPN before the router?

Can I attach a second device to the ISP router and run VPN on that?

This may be the most technologically inept question you have ever seen. :)

Start at the other end. What are you trying to achieve?

It's possible to run it on the device you call a router, but it's likely yours doesn't support it.

What I'm trying to achieve is running all the devices in the house through the VPN. At present, only one device at a time can be be 'behind' the VPN protection. My IPTV service states that it has inbuilt VPN, but I have no way of verifying that, and I occasionally run IPTV on a device that doesn't have VPN installed. I use my main machine as a streamer, which runs 24/7, it has the VPN on all the time.

Ok. It's likely that you'll need a new router or build your own with an old PC.

I can't recommend a model as it's not something I use, but can have a look. The sub reddit r/home networking is where I'd ask.

However we live in the UK and I'm not sure I'd be that stressed.
