Tell me about Porto

We stayed 4 days in an apartment in September very near the centre. Excellent , though many excavations for the new Metro are a bit of a pain , but not for ever, - this had also closed temporararily 2 of the tram lines but they will be back I am advised.

Very impressed in all counts - the market hall , old churches and architecture , great cafes and places to eat. All incredibly good value. The train ride up the Douro to Regua is excellent. Lots of hills to walk up !

(was offered what looked like a decent bag of weed one evening , but no options of partaking :hmm:)

Arrived in Porto yesterday evening. Crashed out at 10pm due to being up early... So first day of exploring. There's an event on at Hard Club later (which seems to be free until 10:30pm), so might spend a couple of hours there.
So how was it?

It was okay. Perhaps one week in a single city alone is a bit too long. I was going to do a daytrip out, but first day I planned to do one, the weather wasn't great. Then my next chance, I turned up at the train station and ticket machines were down/trains cancelled until lunchtime. As someone else mentioned, food is a bit meh... The couple of times I ordered sardines, they weren't fresh off the grill and no lemon. Felt very no frills, but at least food and drink could be bought cheap. Porto itself is pretty, but there was a real lack of cultural places that I wanted to go into...
