Tell me about gel nails, shellac etc. What's good and bad about them?

I use the seche vite top coat which bonds with the varnish and makes it usually last at least a week. Then I usually infill the luttle chips and put another seche vite coat on the infill job. Sometimes I've got as much as three weeks out if my nail job with this system. I find rimmel PRO lasts well for a fairly inexpensive varnish

The wholesale nail shop in Peckham is fantastic ( open late and on Sundays opposite the bus station ) really goid prices eg 3 x seche vite fir a tenner where as it's a tenner for one in boots

Seche vite is good stuff. Has some critics but I like it. Quick dry and great shine. Thanks for the shopping tip.

I get shellac done regularly 3-4 weeks as my nails break on the sides so low down that I get bleeding, since getting them done it doesn't happen any more but I suspect they're not any better underneath the polish - ho hum at least I've a bit of length to them now & no breaking

Before I started having gel nails I used to pick at the skin around my nails, often until it bled. That doesn't happen now and the skin around my nails is smooth. I'm not sure why this has happened but it's definitely a good thing :D
