Question Switchable USB "Hub" type thing to give more options on a car "stereo"

High Voltage

I've upgraded the head unit on my car stereo (please, don't for one second mistake my apparent easy and authoritative use of "tech" phrases for someone who knows what he's talking about . . . I don't)

Anyway, the upgraded unit only has one USB socket, which I can run Apple Car Play successfully from, but I have most, if not all of my music on a little USB thumb drive

What I want is to be able to plug BOTH of these into the head unit and to be able to select accordingly

I've tried to NO SUCCESS - a little USB mini hub - system doesn't recognise the mini hub OR anything plugged into it

And I've tried a switchable USB mini hub - same result

IS THERE SUCH A THING or am I after a unicorn in automobile form

TIA

You could make one with a 4-pole switch. There are pre-made ones available, but they're big desk-mounted things for use in eg a testing lab.

see if the new stereo has an SD card slot and if so stick your music on one of them, or just put the music on your phone.
