My wife is in the process of trying to claim Universal Credit which means I am as well because you apply as a household now. I am a full-time student who should have graduated in June but have had to extend my course due to Covid and personal problems. If we can get Universal Credit then I probably don't need to take out a maintenance loan but what isn't clear is if I am obliged to take out a loan before claiming Universal Credit. There are also grants that I can get as a student that I know I can't get if my wife is on UC (student parent grant and adult dependant grant) but am I obliged to try and claim them as that's what I did lst year.
I'm very confused but the people at the job centre are very little help and just keep booking and cancelling stuff on my UC 'to do list' without even asking me. I think I have an appointment there on Monday but fuck knows as they have already booked and cancelled two phone appointments (cancelling one forty minutes after it was supposed to happen). I have been trying to write essays and it is fucking me right off.
