Stu Allan has died

fucking cancer :(
wasnt aware of him living in london at the time but became aware over time - obviously massive to radio listeners in manchester and beyond - salute

Didnt realise he was behind the Im Chucky tune - always liked that tune - quite unusual - though theres a horrible story associated with that tune which has spoilt it for me - no reflection at all on Stu Allan of course - almost better not to know

Classic 1991 Stu Allan production

Theres an interesting interview with him on Greg Wilson's website here - lots of chat about the 80s manc club scene

Really enjoyed this, didn't know he was a soul boy, like so many of the early hardcore djs were...

RIP Stu. Gutted about this sad news. I used to live nearby and used to see him out and about almost always with a Spin Inn records bag full of records back in the early 90s. Wish I’d struck up a conversation with him back then but I was a bit of a fan-boy and I deffo would have made a tit of myself :D I know now tho that he was just a proper humble down-to-earth genuinely nice soul and an unlikely taste maker for a whole generation of manc kids mid-80s onwards. So important, but he never really got that wider recognition tbh

Love how this particular records holds a legendary status in Manchester amongst people of a certain age. Stu had the only record for a long time and it got heavy rotation on his show. Every man and his dog was after a copy but it took a while for Spin Inn to get more import copies in stock. It’s probably the quintessential song from that era of his radio shows

bumping this 'new' upload....Stu Allen NYE coming into 1994...by this time jungle was dominant down south and i'd heard that the north had a more 4x4 jungle-techno sound but not that may tunes ever reached my ears...mainly some tango & ratty and formation records
really fun set of stompers here...I wouldve thought this was naff at the time but im worn down now :D
