Spitting Image to return after 23 years

Jacinda as Mary Poppins was pretty good, as was Dominic Cummings, but on the whole it was rubbish.

I think people forget how hit and miss the original was though.

Looks dreadful. Not going to subscribe to a new platform just to find out if it is or not. A lot of it would be lost on me anyway as I only read the news so have no idea what Dominic Cummings and others sound like

We didn't get as far as Jacinda.

Absolutely woeful, unfunny shite. The voices weren't even up to it never mind the terrible writing.

I wonder if they know it's shit and that's why it's on BritBox.

I've only seen a couple of clips and they do not encourage me to watch more. Goves voice seems to have no relationship to the real Gove at all.

"Haha imagine if Greta had a boyfriend" sketch manages to really capture that 1980's feel and piss on the possibility we're all going to die when the planet hits 3 degrees extra warmth.

Clever stuff. Deep, really cutting satire.

However... this re-edit with new dialogue is funny as fuck.

I think you've got problems if your satire can be satirised and it's way funnier than the source material tbh

(the Thunburg one is the funny one)

I came to see what Urban thought about that sketch after it was all over Twitter for the misogyny. I'm not even sure what the intent was with the tits/vag lines. You can just about understand the kind of overgrown schoolboys who write most TV comedy getting overexcited and going with a dodgy joke because they think the sexism is cancelled out by the satirical intent - but that wasn't even a joke: not even a really shit one. It was just random, witless, unpleasant and pointless.

The whole sketch is just grindingly awful, and would have been three minutes too long even if it had been funny.

It's shite, but then it's only on BritBox, which has few subscribers, and next to bugger all of those subscribers will actually watch this new Spitting Image, the budget per show must be around the cost of a round of drinks down your local pub.

Fuck knows what ITV was thinking in launching this on a little used paid-for platform, but then they have a record of pissing money down the drain on subscription services that have failed.

unbelievable that such sexist dreck gets broadcast without anyone on the team saying ‘hang on…’

Oh, so it's not even on proper telly? What's the point in it?

Yeah, it's not on proper TV, and there's no point in it, besides ITV highlighting their commitment to commission new & exclusive content for BritBox in an attempt to drive subscriber numbers, whilst failing miserably in doing so.

It was horrible. If anyone told 'jokes' like that in most decent workplaces, they'd be disciplined.

Given that the writers' 'comedy' careers are stalling, they should probably apply to The Met as they'd be a shoe-in for a job as a copper with banter like that.

I dunno, i think it captured Starmer and Phillips pretty well. Especially Phillips.
