Song lyrics you could not write today

Gary Pluckett and the Union Gap:

Young girl, get out of my mind
My love for you is way out of line
Better run girl
You're much too young girl

With all the charms of a woman
You've kept the secret of your youth
You led me to believe you're old enough
To give me love
And now it hurts to know the truth

Young girl, get out of my mind
My love for you is way out of line
Better run girl
You're much too young girl

Beneath your perfume and your make-up
You're just a baby in disguise
And though you know that it's wrong to be
Alone with me
That come on look is in your eyes

Young girl, get out my mind
My love for you is way out of line
Better run girl
You're much too young girl

So hurry home to your mama
I'm sure she wonders where you are
Get out of here
Before I have the time
To change my mind
'Cause I'm afraid we'll go too far

Young girl, get out my mind
My love for you is way out of line
Better run girl
You're much too young girl (repeat to fade

Shadow by R Dean Taylor is even dodgier than Young Girl

Shadow, you drag me down
But every day I love you more
Shadow, you bring me down
And every day I need you more
Than the day before

Body of a woman, mind of a child
Shadow, you sure do drive me wild
You're only 14 years old

Shadow, it's in your touch
All those things that I just don't know
Shadow, you mean so much
I never thought I had so far to go
I need you so

Body of a woman, mind of a child
Shadow, you sure do drive me wild
You're only 14 years old

Hair dark, black as coal
Eyes that look into your soul
Touch that makes you lose control
Shadow she's gonna stay
Won't go away

Young Girls - Rich Kids

Young girls in their teens
I cut their photos from my magazines
I put them in my hall, I put them in my wall
A gallery of beauty queens
I look at them each night
And it makes me feel alright
But I have said it before, and I’ll say it again
They’d better leave me alone, or they’ll drive me insane

Young girls everywhere I go
They touch my leg at the picture show
When they do, I can’t say no to those young girls
Young girls follow me around
They pick me up and they put me down
I’d love to go to town with those young girls

Young girls on the street
Making eyes at the guys they meet
I see them at parties, the young, gay, and hearty
Looking so nice and so neat
They scheme their little school girl schemes
That they dream up in their school girl dreams
But when they get to you, boy, you’d better put up a fight
They’re only girls by day, but they’re women by night

Young girls everywhere I go
They touch my leg at the picture show
When they do, I can’t s no to those young girls
Young girls follow me around
They pick me up and they put me down
I’d love to go to town with those young girls

Young girls everywhere I go
They touch my leg at the picture show
When they do, I can’t s no to those young girls
Young girls follow me around
They pick me up and they put me down
I’d love to go to town with those young girls

Young girls everywhere I go
They touch my leg at the picture show
When they do, I can’t s no to those young girls
Young girls follow me around
They pick me up and they put me down
I’d love to go to town with those young girls
Young girls, young girls

Do ye ken John Peel with his coat so gay?
Do ye ken John Peel at the break of day?
Do ye ken John Peel when he's far, far away
With his hounds and his horn in the morning

Twas the sound of his horn brought me from my bed
And the cry of his hounds has me oftimes led
For Peel's view holloa would wake the dead
Or a fox from his lair in the morning

Picture of You - Joe Brown and the Bruvvers

In the night, there are sights to be seen
Stars like jewels on the crown of a Queen
But the only sight I wanna view
Is that wonderful picture of you

On a Streetcar, or in the café
All of the evening, and most of the day
My mind is in a maze what can I do?
I still see that picture of you

It was last summer, I fell in love
My heart told me what to do
I saw you there on the crest of a hill
An' I took a little picture of you

Then you were gone, like a dream in the night
With you went my heart, my love and my life
I didn't know your name, what could I do?
I only had a picture of you

Then you were gone, like a dream in the night
With you, went my heart, my love and my life
I didn't know your name, what could I do?
I only had a picture of you, oh yeah
That wonderful picture of you
I'm left with a picture of, oh yeah
That wonderful picture of you

I'd forgotten about this one until now but I was driving Youngest Q somewhere a year or so ago when this was on the CD and she piped up
"Let me get this straight Dad, this song is about some woman just stood there minding her own business and some creep snapped a picture of her and is now obsessing over it?"

The stones are generally a good one for this kind of discussion. This is a beauty.

Gold Coast slave ship bound for cotton fields
Sold in a market down in New Orleans
Scarred old slaver, know he's doing alright
Hear him whip the women just around midnight
Brown sugar, how come you taste so good?
Brown sugar, just like a young girl should, uh huh
Drums beating, cold English blood runs hot
Lady of the house wond'ring where it's gonna stop
House boy knows that he's doing alright
You shoulda heard him just around midnight
Brown sugar, how come you taste so good, now?
Brown sugar, just like a young girl should, now
