Socialist Reggae?

I've been listening to this late 90s Linton Kwesi Johnson LP a load recently - it's all great, but the title track in particular is brilliant - a perky upbeat horn laden skank demanding - I think - something very much like Fully Automated Luxury Communism, 20 years ahead of Aaron Bastani

Wi mawchin out di ole towards di new centri
Arm wid di new technalagy
Wi gettin more an more producktivity
Some seh tings lookin-up fi prasperity
But if evrywan goin get a share dis time
Ole mentality mus get lef behine

Wonderful thread. Has Nicky Thomas's version of Love of the Common People been mentioned. No direct socialist reference but great track.

this is interesting
original

The Abyssinians - Crashie sweeps

and more socialistically explicit DJ version

DILLINGER - Crashie First Socialist

this relates to a Michael Manley's "crash" program that hired unemployed people to tidy/fix up local neighbourhoods in the early 70s
