So who else's boss won't give them next Weds afternoon off?

For those of you thinking of bunking a day off, don't talk to any newspaper reporters

Just seen this in The Mirror

Events manager Deborah Ellis, 28, from Morpeth, said: "I actually called in sick today because I wanted to have the whole day to prepare for this.

"The atmosphere here is amazing. Hopefully I won't bump into anyone from work tonight."

and hopefully your employers don't read The Mirror :D

... or what about negotiating to come in early and work through lunch?

That's the compromise we reached this morning, seeing as everybody was practically threatening a walk-out! 8am start and no breaks but we'll be allowed out in time to get to the pub round the corner for the game.

However my boss remains a cunt, he should've given us all the afternoon off with a bit of goodwill since I'm reckoning the entire nation will be leaving at lunchtime.

we are short-staffed, and someone is already leaving early on Weds - he says he has to 'pick something up' :hmm:

so I'll be here all day:mad:

I feel a 'work-from-home' coming on.

Better that I scream, curse and shout at the telly in private.

Boss is Irish and she doesn't give a shit/ hates football.
There's only one English person in this office and the rest wants to watch England lose...

I feel for you. :(

Flexi time here, already 4 hrs in the ban so leaving at 3pm Wednesday then literally across the road into the pub.

work are being nice to us and saying if we come in early we get to finish for 3 for Kick off and are gonna provide food, beer and wine.
not too bad, lets just hope the players sort it out in South Africa

I work at home on a Wednesday but I think there are plans to show it on a battered old TV we have here. Unless the tennis-lovers have appropriated it!

At my place we're downing tools at 3pm and they're putting on beer and pizza and we're watching it on the big telly. About 100 of us.

We have small office, 2 companies and 5 people. Everyone shows mild in-deference to football but a strong attraction to pubs, especially on sunny days.

It's funny how that now there is a hint of afternoon pub action everyone suddenly has become more interested in football. We are all going to the pub soon to indulge in our new found appreciation of football!
