Sir Alex Ferguson very ill

Not sure how nice a bloke he is (see below) but he's a human being with family, so hope he recovers and relaxes well.

In Ferguson's time, he fell out with, or insulted, just about every authority and rival in the business. This is the man who wrote in his first autobiography he did not feel a "crumb of pity" when a sworn enemy at Rangers was diagnosed with cancer.
 
As medics do all they can, referees have offered to help to give him as much time as he needs.

I'm always wary of comparing eras with sport. However, the longevity of his success, and throughout arguably the largest changes to the domestic game ever seen, makes him a strong contender when discussing the greatest managers.
