Brixton Hatter
Home is south London mate
i'm actually pleasantly surprised that many of brixton's businesses seem to be quite resilient during the recession - maybe because people are quite loyal about shopping locally round here - but there's still been a fair few shops that have closed recently, probably due to the recession.
of the top of my head i can think of:
- woolworths (now a sort of cheapy clothes shop)
- red records (nail bar)
- 4orce homecare (opposite the beehive - empty i think)
- H Samuel (jewellers on the corner opposite the beehive, been there for years - now a mobile phone and other paraphenalia shop)
- MK One (now 99p stores)
- womens clothes shop opposite the tube (now "poundland" i think)
- the pound shop under the bridge (empty, but closed for ages actually)
- maybe a few shops in the indoor market?
(interesting that four of those businesses that went under were chains, whereas the local businesses seem to survive...)
