Robocop 4?

T & P

|-o-| (-o-) |-o-|
There might well be a new Robocop film in the works, according to this: http://www.moviesonline.ca/movienews_14329.html

Normally I'd be against shameless money grabbing schemes but the original Robocop films don't work very well as a trilogy- only the original one was worth its salt IMO, and R3 was pants- so the addition of a fourth instalment is not necessarily bad news.

Did you ever read the comic based on Frank Miller's original Robocop 2 script? Twas quite good, and certainly better than the bilge that made it to the screen.

That's because like most movie franchises they were never conceived as a trilogy. They are one very good film followed two unneccessary cash in sequels, both of which were lacking the sharp satirical edge Paul Verhoeven brough to the original. Unless he is involved I have no interest in this.

So that's Rocky, Indy, Rambo, Die Hard, Terminator and now Robocop coming back from the dead? Do these Hollywood types have no shame? Are there no new ideas left in the world? And when will someone do a new version of day of the triffids, a movie that could actually do with a big-budget remake?

Don't forget Indiana Jones, Superman, Batman, Alien/Predator, Charlies Angels, Shaft, Starsky & Hutch, Charlie & The Chocolate Factory etc etc

All we need is a remake of the Karate Kid now

The original was great but at the bottom of a shit barrel there's just more shit.

I like the Robocop stuff. I especially like the TV series, which was far closer to 'Judge Dredd' than that piece of Sylvester Stallone crap.

The original was genius. Blew me away when I saw it, an entertaining pisstake of 80s greed. Second was awful. Didn't watch anymore.

Did someone mention Batman? I loved the Tim Burton ones but have to say the new franchise is a brave move and this summer's sequel looks quite awesome. I think Heath Ledger's Joker will make Jack Nicholson's turn seem a bit tame...

what batman series ? the animated one from 2004 ? or the short 6 part anime thing, thats all i could see on imdb.

ahh, just me being thick then I watched batman begins again recently and its a way better film than i'd given it credit for.
