RIP David Bowie

A lot of closet racists and other bellends on social media are making a fuss over Kanye West planning a tribute to Bowie (dunno why, would love to hear his takes on Fame and Fashion), when they ought to be expending their outrage on the Brits tribute from the likes of Bono, Coldplay and Adele.
It's sure to sound as horrible as this:

why not wait until it does sound like that instead of damning it unheard?

I would do anything for hate but I won't click that.

I took the bullet for you.
Think subtlety, think sound dynamics, think the passionate projection of both vulnerability and desperate defiance.
Oasis ignore all of these features of the original. Instead - and I am sure you will be amazed to hear this - its a big slab of overblown stodge featuring an atonal baboon shouting the lyrics in the style of a pisshead at a football match.

Voley said:
Can't get his songs out of my head just now. 'Starman', particularly, keeps making a welcome appearance into my consciousness at the oddest moments.

'Ashes To Ashes' playing on the internal jukebox all day today and raising a slightly melancholic smile each time it popped into my head.

That's actually worse than I thought it would be. I didn't know it was possible to sing as far off key as that.

I do like Kanye (music-wise), and would be interested to hear what he makes of some of Bowie's songs.

However, there is only one who I feel is worthy to wear the sequined legless catsuit

A Bowie memorial for Brixton? I'd love to see the man celebrated in his home town (but not with crappy statue!)

A David Bowie memorial in Brixton’s Windrush Square? #bowieforbrixton

Yes, it would be nice to have something to celebrate Bowie so I can visit it when I go to England, but not a statue.

I have been singing Bowie's songs in my head recently.
I still can't listen to his songs . I just listened to Ziggy Stardust - because, when I told my Canadian musician friend the next day, 'I am so sad and can not listen to his songs', he told me, 'Bowie would want you to listen to his songs and turn up the volume loud!' and I cried.

But I'm going to the movie 'David Bowie Is' which will be screened in Tokyo for a week from this weekend as a tribute. Hopefully, I will meet other Bowie fans like me. I think I need some kind of ceremony, too (I'm not sure if 'ceremony' is the right word here, sorry).

Also, the exhibition, 'David Bowie Is' will come to Tokyo (finally!) in 2017 spring. It was announced on his birthday. I saw it in London, but will see it again. If you would like to see it (again), come to Tokyo!

U2 FRONTMAN Bono has paid tribute to David Bowie by promising to stop singing.

The idea came to Bono after listening to the succession of increasingly brilliant albums Bowie made in the 1970s.

Bono said: “Bowie’s passing brought home what a leather-bound cockmonger I am. I am not cool or likeable and if you take away the stupid glasses I look like a postman.

“For me to carry on now would be an insult. Our plodding bilge is the absolute antithesis of everything Bowie stood for.

“I told the band they can either get a new frontman or just retire to their vast houses and do bad watercolour paintings of fruit, which is what I’m going to do.”

Bono has donated his leather trousers to charity, and now wears the River Island chinos that he has craved for years.

He said: “These chinos are so much more breathable, with plenty of give around the waistline. I feel like I’ve come home.

“Thank you David.”

obv, but so are most of the other 70s albums. I'd have expected to see Ziggy Stardust as the biggest seller...

... and where is Santa Monica '72?

A strong contender (in my book, and I'm not a particularly massive Bowie fan) for the list of best live albums by anyone ever.

Perhaps the people who are now buying the other LPs already have Ziggy as the obvious entry level disc and are now filling in the gaps?

I haven't seen this classic since 1971, when my mate Gaz skimmed across the neighbours back gardens in disgust!

I'm sure those 'World Of .....' albums were everywhere in the 70s! That picture has really brought them back.

Finally got Blackstar today - love the opening track which is all I've heard so far due to being at work.

Must admit I have thought about getting it, enjoyed what I have heard so far.
As for the world of Bowie I was trying to convince my mate to skim the world of Harry Secombe instead but he said his dad would murder us!

I think my friends parents had The World of Mantovani!

Giving Blackstar a proper listen now and really enjoying it. It's quite bleak-sounding music so maybe 'appreciating' is a better word.
