Just heard this sad news. Devastated!!
The Stranglers were mostly about Dave Greenfield's keyboarding for me ....
For whatever reason, I was aware of him and the band before I knew anything about The Doors, so when I first got their Greatest Hits, I started to think 'that's a lot like the keyboards in Stranglers tunes!'

I recollect their drummer wore a gas mask as stage smoke could fuck up his weak lungs. I saw them play at the lyceum i think and he wore the gas mask for a two hour set.

Really sad news. I saw the Stranglers in Hull a couple of years ago and they were absolutely brilliant, even this late in their career. RIP.

Hanging Around is another great favourite of mine. Reminds me of seeing them at Cambridge Corn Exchange in 1981 when it was a big old barn of a place and had crap acoustics. Still enjoyed it massively though.

Very sad to hear this. Not many of the harder edged rock bands can claim how intrical their heyboared player is to the band. The Stranglers can make that claim.
