The opposite of a fat cat the independent said when he retired in 1999.

He did important work on miscarriages of justice and human rights. Shame starmer isn't more like him. Especially now.

I got refused legal aid once and one of the briefs at his office just touched me on the shoulder and said there would be no bill.

Gareth Pierce now leads the firm. A true warrior that one.
