Revolutionary Islam

You are disrespecting the belief of 2 billion people.

Yeah. So. What?

"You don't have to respect other believes, you have to acknowledge that their belief, but you get to reserve the right to think "that's the fucking dumbest thing I ever heard".

Oh and you holding up Libya and Iraq as Islamic Socialist States? Thats one of the most fucking dumb things I've ever heard.

There were gay bars in Libya and Iraq, but it was not promoted as being benifical to the stability of society.

Doesn't Revolutionary Islam believe in giving straight answers either?

Not 'promoted as being beneficial' by whom? This 'prophet' of yours?

Dont disrespect the Prophet.

Why should we respect a so called 'prophet' who appears to be a homophobe?

Basically a death cult; adherents to this unwholesome set of beliefs hold that our current life is an illusion and that true life only starts after death... if that death is achieved through 'martyrdom' (mass murder and suicide) all the better. They despise reason, hate women, homosexuality and demand that all non-believers convert or die. What is not to like? Oh yeah, they are against music, dancing, fun.

But why shouldn't someone disrespect the beliefs of others? It's just freedom of speech, and if those believers are so thin-skinned that they get offended well hard luck. There is no rational reason why someone should respect someone's fictional prophet, or their religious beliefs.

Religions don't have a great track record of respecting the rights of people not in their club, or worse, people they actively disapprove of, so they have no right at all to demand

People should respect the right of people to hold those beliefs of course, and to be able to express them.

Islam - of which ever variety - is yet another form of intolerant bigotry.
How progressive is being allowed to lie; or killing non-believers / gays; or flogging women for not wearing a head to toe covering; or convicting a raped women of adultery whilst her attacker goes free; accusing a child of limited intelligence of blasphemy; complaining of blasphemy when a book is burnt - when madrassas do that all the time to worn out copies;
the list is very long...............I could go on.
And I have not detailed the similar attacks by creationists on teaching facts in biology and geography because these facts conflicts with their version of fairy stories.

On this topic though, has anyone ever read that 'Milestones' book? I remember reading about that in Jason Burke's excellent book on Al Qaeda, sounded quite influential for some.

Not heard of it I'm afraid. I've not read Jason Burke's book either - although have seen some of his articles.
